Berkeley High starts public process to redesign bell and class schedules

What happened
Berkeley High staff are studying changes to the bell and master schedules. They said no schedule has been proposed yet. Surveys and other outreach will run this fall, followed by schedule options and a formal recommendation to the board in November and December.
Why it matters to families
A new schedule could change class times, course choices, support periods, physical education, electives, and the length or shape of the school day. Families will have chances to comment before a recommendation is made.
The evidence
In the September 2 meeting recording, staff described three phases: outreach about options and tradeoffs in September, review of community priorities in October and November, and modeled schedules plus a formal board recommendation in November and December. Staff said surveys would reach students and families and emphasized that the examples shown were not proposed schedules.
