What happened

A former Bonham ISD teacher pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor and forgery and received 7 years in prison, according to a May 2026 North Texas e-News report.

Why it matters to families

Bonham ISD Police found in 2024 that the teacher sent messages to a student trying to get them to engage in sexual activity. The report says no in-person misconduct happened. The superintendent later said past events had caused parents anxiety and described stricter hiring checks.

The evidence

The North Texas e-News report of May 18, 2026 describes the Bonham ISD Police investigation, the grand jury indictment and the plea agreement. The superintendent's June 3, 2026 statement describes current background checks.
