District news
Board adopts 2026-27 budget at 33% local option

What happened
On September 14, 2026, after a public hearing, the board adopted the 2026-27 budget and a local option budget (LOB) of 33%. In July the board had voted not to raise taxes above the revenue-neutral rate.
Why it matters to families
The LOB is extra money a district may raise from local property tax on top of state aid; 33% is the highest Kansas allows. Staying at the revenue-neutral rate means the district did not ask for a higher tax rate than needed to collect the same amount as last year.
The evidence
The September 14, 2026 minutes record the budget and 33% LOB motion passing 6-0. The July 6, 2026 special meeting minutes record the vote not to exceed the revenue-neutral rate.
