What happened

Under the 2026-27 handbook, grade 6-8 students must keep phones off and in their lockers during school hours. In high school, teachers decide whether phones can be used in class. Smartwatches must stay silent during class, and repeated violations end with a parent picking up the device.

Why it matters to families

These rules shape when students can use phones each day. Junior high parents must call the office to reach their child.

The evidence

The board-approved 2026-27 grades 6-12 student handbook, 'Personal Electronic Device - Disciplinary Procedures/Expectations', sets these rules. Trustees revised device policy 3265 in April-May and approved the handbooks July 13, 2026.
