District news
District finds disability gap in phone-policy enforcement
What happened
Students with IEPs or 504 plans were 16% of district enrollment but 21.7% of the 83 students disciplined under the phone policy. The district called the difference statistically significant and announced corrective steps.
Why it matters to families
Students who are allowed to use devices for disability-related needs could be disciplined by mistake. The district plans staff training, student-plan reviews, restorative responses, and quarterly checks.
The evidence
The district's annual report records 129 incidents involving 83 students, gives the disability figures, identifies a significant disparity, and lists its 2026-27 mitigation plan.
