What happened

On Aug. 18, 2026 staff reported about 29.5 open general education teaching jobs and 13 open special education jobs. Kindergarten enrollment was down about 99 students, and total 10th-day enrollment was 7,181.

Why it matters to families

Open jobs can mean bigger classes or long-term substitutes. Of 24 teacher interns, 13 serve as the main teacher in a classroom. Fewer kindergartners can mean less state money later.

The evidence

Signed minutes of the Aug. 18, 2026 meeting record the vacancy, substitute and intern counts and the enrollment numbers.
