2026-27 budget leaves the bus fund with about $5,000

What happened
The 2026-27 budget, approved after a September 21, 2026 hearing, plans to spend $350,800 on transportation against $262,200 in revenue. That $88,600 gap would leave an estimated $5,260 in the Transportation Fund by June 30, 2027. The Educational Fund is close to balanced this year, with $4,079,617 in revenue and $4,061,920 in spending. The state form still labels the budget unbalanced.
Why it matters to families
Buses for a rural district covering 105 square miles are paid from this fund. With almost nothing left, any cost overrun would need a transfer from another fund or a higher tax levy.
