What happened

On June 18, 2026 the board voted 5-0 to appoint Daniel Galindo as principal of Briggs K-8 and Christine Dahlstrom as principal of Canyon Hills Junior High School. The same vote appointed four assistant principals: Camille Moet at Newman Elementary and Jeremiah Fellows at Eagle Canyon Elementary, both effective July 1, 2026, and Shirley Perez at Ayala High School. A month later, on July 16, 2026, the board appointed four more assistant principals effective July 17, 2026 - Amber Fellows at Briggs K-8, Sarita Lopez at Canyon Hills Junior High, Amparo Covarrubias at Chino High School and Mark Ware at Chino Hills High School.

Why it matters to families

Taken with the June 4 appointments, Chino Valley changed the head of four schools and the assistant head of eight in a single summer. For families that means a new person handling discipline, attendance and day-to-day problems at a large share of the district's schools at once. Assistant principals are usually the person a parent actually reaches first.

The evidence

The approved June 18, 2026 minutes record the closed session appointments of Daniel Galindo as Junior High School Principal of Briggs K-8 and Christine Dahlstrom as Junior High School Principal of Canyon Hills JHS, along with Camille Moet, Jeremiah Fellows and Shirley Perez as assistant principals, all by unanimous 5-0 vote. The approved July 16, 2026 minutes record the four further assistant principal appointments effective July 17, 2026.
