Clear Lake board approves student device policy

What happened

The board approved a personal communication devices policy on July 15. The posted text permits use at lunch and between classes if it does not disrupt the learning environment.

Why it matters to families

The policy sets when students can use personal phones and other communication devices at school.

The evidence

At other school-day times devices must be off and out of sight, subject to emergency, health-plan, IEP/504 and teacher-authorized education exceptions. Before/after school use is permitted and bus use is at the driver, teacher or sponsor’s discretion. Precise changes from prior wording are unverified.
