Who runs Community Montessori?
Community Montessori is a free public charter school at 4102 St. Joseph Road in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. It serves students from early education through high school and also runs fee-based infant, toddler and early-education programs. It is run by a nonprofit, Community Montessori Inc. Its Board of Directors is not elected: the board interviews and appoints new members itself. A director manages the school. The board meets about six times a year on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m., sometimes after a closed executive session. Admission is by lottery, and the school keeps a waitlist.
Self-appointed board
The board appointed John Manzo in February 2026 and elected Ann Brown president.
Full enrollment
ADM was 471 in December 2025 with 68 on the waitlist, and the spring lottery filled every spot.
Rising staff costs
New benefits in June 2026 are partly funded by expected Medicaid billing.
Clean audit
Staff reported the latest audit had no findings (December 2025).
The minutes are brief outlines. Older minutes are available only on request, and the website keeps just the latest set.
