What happened

The shared behavior analyst position was eliminated for 2026-27 because of budget cuts. Cornish Elementary will use a contracted provider instead. The school's special education report says this means 50% fewer hours for behavior assessments, behavior data tracking and behavior plans. The school's speech pathologist was also retiring.

Why it matters to families

Students with behavior plans or speech services may see changes in who supports them and how often.

The evidence

April 2026 special education report: the 0.8 FTE behavior analyst shared with Plainfield 'has been eliminated' and the result 'will be a decrease of 50% in hours spent on conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments, the tracking of behavior data, and the development of behavior plans.'
