Phones must be off and stored away all day

What happened
The 2026-27 Cornish Elementary handbook says cell phones, and watches that can call or text, must be turned off and stored away from students during the day. Phones not stored are taken to the office: the first time a student picks it up after school, the second time a parent must. The board approved the handbook on Aug. 17, 2026.
Why it matters to families
Families should not expect to reach students by phone during school; the handbook asks them to call the office.
