What happened

The Cornish-Plainfield cooperative study committee voted unanimously on Sept. 15, 2026 to recommend a 'One School Model,' with all K-8 classes at 92 Bonner Road, the Plainfield school site. Voters would first be asked in March 2027 to keep the committee working and give it some money. Budget and bond requests could come in March 2028.

Why it matters to families

If voters approve it in later steps, Cornish Elementary would stop being a K-8 school in town. The board's facilities committee is already listing 'viable options for the facility if there is a decision to close the school.' This is a recommendation, not a decision.

The evidence

The interim superintendent's October 2026 report says the committee's vote 'was unanimous to recommend that model and to establish that all K-8 instruction would happen at 92 Bonner Road.' His September report says a one-school model would create a new school on the Plainfield site with a new name. Approved Sept. 14 minutes describe the facility-options list.
