Aides teach 3rd and 4th grade until teachers arrive
What happened
On August 12, 2026, the board approved paying paraprofessionals $50 more a day to teach 3rd and 4th grade classes. They will do this until the hired teachers arrive, for up to 14 days in a row. The aides plan lessons, teach and grade.
Why it matters to families
Third and fourth graders start the year without their regular teachers. In July the board also agreed to sponsor teachers for H-1B work visas.
