What happened

The district is presenting proposed high-school Career and Technical Education additions for 2027–28, including pathways in Aviation Maintenance and Operations, Corrections/Security/Law Enforcement, and Energy. The proposals also expand existing health science, software, early-childhood, and media pathways; final Board approval is expected in November.

Why it matters to families

If approved and supported by enrollment, staffing, facilities, and resources, the pathways would broaden students’ career and postsecondary options. The district says approved courses may not be offered if students do not enroll or certified staff are unavailable.

The evidence

The packet’s Sept. 30 memo is titled “Proposed High School Course Additions” and says the pathways and course changes are for Board review in preparation for 2027–28, with final approval to be sought in November. It names Aviation Maintenance and Operations, Corrections, Security, Law and Law Enforcement Services, and Energy as new pathways and states that future offerings depend on resources and facilities, enrollment, and qualified staff.
