District news
Duxbury adopts district rules for AI use in schools

What happened
Duxbury’s School Committee adopted the district’s first artificial-intelligence policy, turning a proposal from September into an approved rule. The policy covers responsible AI use and calls for age-appropriate AI literacy instruction for students; violations can be handled under existing digital-resource rules and student discipline.
Why it matters to families
The policy sets expectations for AI use across the district and establishes that misuse may have consequences under existing rules. Families can expect students to receive AI literacy instruction appropriate to their age.
The evidence
The October 7 minutes record a 4–0 vote to adopt Policy IJNDE, Artificial Intelligence, noting the revisions were to definitions and wording and made no material changes. The meeting packet’s policy text says the policy governs responsible AI use, provides for age-appropriate student AI literacy instruction, and refers violations to the existing Acceptable Use of Digital Resources policy and student discipline. Document IDs: 116425 (minutes), 96874 (packet).
