What happened

On September 14, 2026 the board adopted a new wireless device policy (4307) that a new state law requires. Students may bring phones, but they must be powered off and stored in a locker or an assigned storage area. There are exceptions for students whose health or special education plans need a device.

Why it matters to families

This changes what students can do with their phones every school day, in every building.

The evidence

In the September 14, 2026 recording the board approves the second reading of policies 1700, 4100, 4110, 4307, 4420 and 7021, 7-0. The July 27, 2026 work session recording describes the policy language: devices "powered off" and "stored in a locker or an assigned storage area", with exemptions for IEP and medical plans.
