Hearing on state monitors' new three-year plan; comments open until Oct. 1

Day-to-day

What happened

On September 15, 2026 the board held a public hearing on the monitors' three-year academic and financial plan. It has over 100 recommendations, including high school redesign, a new course catalog, more pre-K and a twilight (evening) school. Public comments are accepted until October 1.

Why it matters to families

The plan sets deadlines the district must meet or face violations, and it guides budgets for three years. Families can still comment.

The evidence

A monitor said the plan 'has over a 100 recommendations', named a 'twilight school or a night school' and a secondary course catalog, said input is accepted 'until October 1st', and that missed recommendations become violations. The superintendent also reported attendance of 88 percent for Sept. 3-9 versus 90 percent last September.
