New charter school Independence Classical Academy cleared to open
What happened
On May 12, 2026 the board voted 4-1 on a resolution saying Independence Classical Academy had met the conditions in its charter. The board approved the school's contract on December 9, 2025. The 2026-27 budget sets aside $719,260 for the school, planned for about 60 students.
