District news
District plans AI rules for classrooms but has no AI policy posted
What happened
The state-approved 2026-2029 technology plan sets a goal to build a Responsible Artificial Intelligence Framework. It would teach AI skills, try out approved AI tools, and set rules on cheating and proper use. It also sets a goal to teach AI readiness and digital citizenship from kindergarten through grade 12. No board AI policy was found.
Why it matters to families
Students and teachers may already use AI tools. Until the district adopts rules, expectations on homework, cheating and student data privacy may differ from class to class.
The evidence
The Instructional Technology Plan 2026-2029, shown as approved on June 8, 2026, lists Goal 1 (AI readiness) and Goal 3 (AI framework). The district's technology policies 7314, 8271 and 5676 do not mention AI. This is a plan to write a framework, not an adopted rule.
