District news
Enrollment keeps falling: 1,805 students this fall
What happened
The district started 2026-27 with 1,805 K-12 students, down from 1,905 on October 1, 2025. In March, staff said the October 2025 count was already 12.77% lower than in 2021-22.
Why it matters to families
Utah pays districts mostly per student, so fewer students means less state money. Staff said in June that per-student (WPU) funding did not grow because of declining enrollment.
The evidence
September 9, 2026 minutes give the 1,805 fall count and the 1,905 prior count. March 11, 2026 minutes give the 12.77% five-year decline; June 17 minutes tie flat WPU funding to the decline.
