Student cell phone and device policy moves toward adoption

What happened
After a fall survey and listening sessions, the cabinet proposed a personal technology device policy in November 2025. A draft of policy JICJ, Student Use of Electronic Communication Devices, was presented December 2, discussed January 6, and given a first reading on February 3, 2026. Parents spoke on it during public comment.
Why it matters to families
It sets when students may use phones and other devices at school, which affects every family.
The evidence
Agendas and packets for November 5, December 2, January 6 and February 3 list each step. The exact rules in the policy are in the packet but the final adoption vote is not in the collected records.
