Evergreen Elementary School District — Day-to-day

Over the 2026 calendar year, the Evergreen Elementary board has handled a mix of day-to-day policy matters touching on recognition, public participation, and community positions. The earliest action came in March, when the board voted 4-0 to rename the Cesar Chavez Holiday as Farmworkers Day on both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 calendars, a change that took effect immediately.

About three weeks later, in April, the board voted 4-1 to restore live remote public comment, allowing members of the public to participate online or by Zoom right away, rather than waiting for the adoption of a formal policy. The move signaled a quick-turnaround effort to broaden access to board meetings.

Most recently, the board has turned its attention to a proposed community-facing measure: the August 13 agenda scheduled discussion of a resolution opposing the construction or operation of an ICE detention center in Santa Clara County. Together, these items show a board acting on a range of governance decisions, from calendar and naming choices to meeting accessibility and possible advocacy positions.
