District news
District considers keeping overdose-reversal medicine at every school
What happened
A draft health policy would require Greenburgh Central to keep naloxone, an opioid-overdose reversal medicine, at each instructional school facility. The draft is listed for possible Board adoption on June 16; it has not yet been adopted in this record.
Why it matters to families
On-site naloxone could allow trained staff to respond to a suspected overdose involving a student or staff member while emergency help is sought. The proposal would establish this as a districtwide practice rather than relying on a student's individual prescription.
The evidence
The May 26 packet labels the policy as being considered for adoption on June 16, 2026. Its draft states that the district will maintain non-patient-specific naloxone on-site in each instructional school facility and describes storage in alarmed AED cabinets and school health offices.
