Groton-Dunstable Regional — Facilities

The facilities work this spring centered on a state-funded repair project at Swallow Union Elementary. In April, the committee placed a statement of interest for the Massachusetts School Building Authority Core Program before itself for discussion and a possible vote, formally putting the school in line for a state building-program filing. That filing set up the next step at the May 27 meeting, when the agenda called for votes on initial compliance certification and local authorization of schematic-design funds for an MSBA Accelerated Roof Repair project at Swallow Union — the required approvals needed to advance the roof work through design funding.

The same May 27 meeting also included a separate facilities-related item at the high school. The agenda scheduled a vote on written authority that would let TowerCom act for the committee before the Zoning Board of Appeals on a proposed cell tower at the high school. Together, the two items on the spring docket show the committee moving forward on both a building-repair project at Swallow Union and a zoning application linked to the high school campus.
