What happened

On December 11, 2025, the committee voted unanimously to spend $300,000 to enter the Massachusetts School Building Authority's Feasibility Study and Schematic Design process for a new roof at Golden Hill School, an Accelerated Repair Project meant to extend the building's useful life. The committee had approved a similar roof project for Silver Hill School previously.

Why it matters to families

This is the first funded step toward replacing an aging school roof, and it commits city and school money before state reimbursement is guaranteed.
