What happened

On March 16, 2026 the board replaced its artificial intelligence policy (7540.09). Only district-approved AI tools may be used, and no assignment may require a tool the district does not provide. Teachers must state AI rules in syllabi and assignments. AI can help with brainstorming or feedback but cannot replace a student's own work and must be cited. Making or sharing fake or intimate AI images of students or staff is banned.

Why it matters to families

Students now have clear rules on when AI is allowed for schoolwork and what counts as cheating, and new protection against AI-made fake images.

The evidence

March 16, 2026 minutes item 2026-050 lists '7540.09 Replacement - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE'; the policy text in the Neola manual shows 'Revised March 16, 2026'.

The source
