Jordan Elementary School District
Funding structure, how it compares to peers, and where major projects stand.

Who runs Jordan's schools?
Jordan Elementary School District #1 and Garfield County District High School share one five-member Unified Board of Trustees, one campus in Jordan and one administrator. Funding comes from Montana's state formula plus local levies; voters approve some levies, and the board can raise others after public notice under SB 307. In 2026 the district lost its longtime leader, used an interim superintendent and hired several teachers on emergency licenses.
Board
Harold Erlenbusch (chair), Jason Nordlund (vice chair), Beth Murnion (secretary), Wyatt Colvin and appointed trustee John O'Connor.
Leadership change
Judith Billing went on paid leave in March 2026 and resigned in April; Julie Elias is principal for 2026-27.
Levies
No voted levy election in 2026; the board raised the non-voted building reserve levy by 10 mills (about $16,344).
Staffing
Four teachers hired under emergency licensure; the district is exploring J-1 visas.
Most votes were unanimous, local businesses made donations (Big Country Select, and Garfield County Bank's 500 pounds of beef), and the major building repairs were funded and under way.
