Who runs KCPS, and how is it paid for?
Kansas City Public Schools (officially the School District of Kansas City 33, Missouri) is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors: five members elected from geographic sub-districts and two elected at-large, plus an appointed Board Secretary who runs board operations. Like other Missouri districts, KCPS is funded mainly through local property taxes and the state's school funding formula.
