Lake Elsinore Unified School District
Attendance, finances, student supports and day-to-day rules across Lake Elsinore schools.

How does attendance shape the district’s plans?
The county approved Lake Elsinore’s 2026–27 budget and improvement plan on August 28. The district expects fewer funded attendance days, but its revised forecast shows no unrestricted General Fund deficit in 2026–27 or either of the next two years. Academic support, college and career access, and student well-being remain priorities.
Attendance helps drive revenue
California’s Local Control Funding Formula combines state and local funding, with added support for high-need students. The county letter projects 18,424 average daily attendance in 2026–27, down 2.2%; attendance is not the same as enrollment.
An elected board sets direction
The Board of Trustees adopts policies and budgets, hires and evaluates the superintendent, and oversees student outcomes. Public sessions normally begin at 6 p.m.; posted agendas control each meeting’s time and location.
The budget remains balanced in the forecast
The August 45-day revision projects no unrestricted deficit over three years and meets the 3% state reserve minimum. The letter does not give total current spending per student or a dollar reserve balance.
Graduation and readiness tell different stories
The 2025 data show a 94.5% graduation rate, while 39.2% met the state college/career indicator. The county recognizes expanded AP, CTE, dual enrollment and early-college work, and asks how those opportunities improve outcomes for all student groups.
The county approved the budget and reported sufficient projected cash; its attendance and achievement concerns do not establish insolvency or adopted cuts.

Updated heat and weather procedures
Implementation described in district explainer; exact publication date unavailableThe district says seven Perry Weather stations provide local heat, air-quality and lightning data. Higher heat-risk readings can reduce outdoor activity, move PE or recess indoors, or cancel unsafe activities. The explainer says these procedures replace the prior district heat policy.
