What happened

On February 16, 2026 the superintendent told the board that state BEST construction grants are declining while building costs rise, so the district will focus its immediate efforts and capital money on current facility needs and safety upgrades. Earlier work with Performance Services on designs for a combined elementary campus was still without a timeline.

Why it matters to families

A new or combined elementary campus would change where young children go to school. For now the district is not moving ahead on that kind of project.

The evidence

The Feb 16 recap describes the BEST funding decline and the decision to focus on current needs. The Dec 8 minutes record that drawings of a combined elementary campus were being reviewed and no timelines had been set.
