Board adopts a $118.6 million budget for 2026-27 with fewer students and flat per-student funding

Financial

What happened

On June 22 the board adopted the 2026-27 budget and appropriated $118,595,595 across all funds: $81.4 million for district-run schools and $37.2 million for the Monument Academy charter schools. The district planned for 164 fewer students and per-student state funding of about $11,125, which cuts about $2.0 million in revenue. It planned $2.8 million in expense cuts, level capital spending of $2.5 million (down from $3 million in 2024-25), no increase in health plan cost, and an average pay change of 2.07%.

Why it matters to families

Fewer students and flat per-student funding mean less money for the same schools, so the district chose cuts instead of growth. Pay rises are small.

The evidence

The appropriation resolution lists the fund totals and the June 22 minutes record the board adopting the budget. The budget assumptions are from the administration's May budget summary, and are plans, not final spending.
