Board weighs added security work at Prairie Winds Elementary

Facilities

What happened

In April the board held back safety and security work at Prairie Winds Elementary from the 2026-27 capital projects. On Aug. 17 it pulled an architect design proposal for a Prairie Winds remodel from the consent agenda, and on Sept. 1 it talked with the school's original architect (CRP) about options for more safety and security features.

Why it matters to families

It affects building safety for the students and staff at the school, and the cost could be large.

The evidence

The April 20, Aug. 17 and Sept. 1 minutes show the pause and the discussion. No design, cost or final decision appears in the collected documents.
