Phones and smart watches banned during the school day
What happened
The 2026-27 student handbook says students may not use cell phones, smart watches, earbuds or other devices on campus during the school day. A device used without permission is taken away. The first time, a parent picks it up after school. The second time brings one day of in-school suspension, and the third time two days.
Why it matters to families
This changes what students can carry and use all day, and parents must come to school to get a taken phone back.
The evidence
The 'Prohibition on Electronic Devices' section of the Parent/Student Handbook (revised July 2026) lists the banned devices and the three levels of consequences. The July 21, 2026 board agenda listed approval of the 2026-27 handbook.
