Principal proposes letting students use ChatGPT

What happened
At the March 24, 2026 meeting, the principal said the school would like to open ChatGPT to students to teach them to use AI as a tool. She said a new AI policy is not needed because cheating and technology-misuse policies already apply.
Why it matters to families
This would change how students may use AI for schoolwork. The district has no written AI policy, so classroom rules would come from teachers and existing policies.
The evidence
The principal's report attached to the March 24, 2026 minutes lists "AI - Direction for the future," including "We'd like to open ChatGPT" and "I don't believe new policy needs to be written." The board's March 16 retreat also discussed AI concerns.
