How is McClave Re-2 paid for?
McClave School District Re-2 is a small public district in Bent County, Colorado, with two schools and about 230 students. Colorado pays districts by a state formula, and local property taxes cover part of it. A five-member board adopts the budget, certifies the property tax mill levy each December and approves staff and contracts. Voters approved bonds, and a state BEST grant helps pay for a new Pre-K-12 school now under construction.
Property tax
The board certified the 2025 mill levy, to be collected in 2026, at its Dec 8 and Dec 15, 2025 meetings.
Bond payments
In Nov 2025 the board moved general fund money to the bond fund when Bent County had not collected enough tax. It was repaid in Feb 2026.
New school
The board approves construction packages, alternates and land and water agreements nearly every month.
Who decides
Four elected directors plus one director from the regional BOCES service group. Meetings are on the second Monday at 6 p.m.
The minutes record motions, not discussion, so they do not show why the board chose a given option or what each costs.
