District news
District pauses school closures but warns enrollment keeps falling

What happened
At the December 16, 2025 meeting district staff said closing schools has already saved about $5.8 million a year, and central office cuts about $1.4 million. Closures are paused for the next school year, but staff said they cannot stop watching the numbers because smaller kindergarten classes keep moving up. The current budget uses reserves.
Why it matters to families
Fewer students means less state money, and the district has said it may have to close or combine more schools if the decline continues.
