What happened

At a June 17 work session the board discussed charging athletic fees for a student's first two sports: $50 per high school student, $35 per middle school student and a family cap of $170. The regular meeting the same night listed 'possibility of athletic fees.' No vote on fees appears in the minutes read.

Why it matters to families

Fees change what it costs families to play sports. A proposal is not a decision.

The evidence

June 17 work session minutes: 'Discussion Athletic Fees... Proposed $50 per HS Student, Proposed $35 per MS Student, Proposed $170 per Family Tops out.' The athletic director item in the regular minutes says 'Possibility of Athletic Fees.' August and September minutes do not record a fee vote.
