Board awards first major capital-project contracts
What happened
The Board approved separate general, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and window contracts for phase 1A work at the middle and high schools.
Why it matters to families
The $7.85 million phase came in about $450,000 above its $7.4 million budget, although the project team said the next roughly $25 million phase was then tracking at about $20–21 million.
The evidence
At the June 23 special meeting, the project team explained the bids and estimated that bidding windows separately saved roughly $200,000; the Board approved the awards without recorded opposition.
