What happened

On October 20, 2026 the board met privately for almost two hours. Part of the closed session was about "pending litigation involving MESD and the Town of Edgewood" over a district property on Dinko (spelling unclear) Road in Edgewood. The board took no action afterward.

Why it matters to families

A court fight with the town could cost the district legal fees and decide how district buildings in Edgewood are used. The town already leases part of the old Edgewood Elementary building from the district. In September a speaker said the district and the town "have not always been best friends lately."

The evidence

October 20, 2026 recording: the closed-session motion lists "pending litigation involving MESD in [and] the town of Edgewood regarding the property located at 285 Dinko Road Edgewood, New Mexico" under the attorney-client exception; the board came out at 8:28 pm with no action taken. The captions do not say who sued whom or what the dispute is.
