District news
School tax rate drops, but the average homeowner's school tax bill goes up about $198
What happened
The district proposed cutting its total tax rate from $0.90726 to $0.86373 per $100 of value. Because the average home's taxable value rose from $153,434 to $183,548, the district's notice says the average homeowner's school tax bill would rise $198.46, to $1,590.50.
Why it matters to families
A lower rate does not always mean a lower bill. The operations rate is set by state compression, and most of the cut came from the debt-service rate on the 2023 bond.
The evidence
2026 Notice of Public Meeting to Discuss Proposed Tax Rate (hearing August 24, 2026) lists both rates, the average home values and the tax change. The August 10, 2026 video records the board setting the hearing date and proposed rate.
