Teacher contract talks for 2026-27 begin
What happened
At a required public hearing on September 8, 2026, the board and the teachers' union (Professional Educators of Porter County, AFT Local 4852) opened bargaining over teacher pay and benefits. The first bargaining session was set for September 29. No one from the public spoke at the hearing.
Why it matters to families
Teacher pay is the largest cost in the district's education fund. The superintendent said Hebron's teacher pay has gone from the lowest in Porter County to among the top 20 starting salaries in Indiana. Last year's teacher contract was ratified in November 2025, when support staff and administrators got a 2% raise.
