First-year phone ban data: 421 violations at Shaker High, uneven by grade and race

Day-to-day

What happened

The district's required report for 2025-26 shows 421 violations by 284 students at Shaker High School and 59 violations by 50 students at Shaker Middle School. At the high school, grade 11 had 155 violations. Black and multiracial students appear in violation data at higher rates than their share of enrollment, and the district lists steps to fix it.

Why it matters to families

It shows how the rule is working day to day and who is being disciplined. The district itself flags the differences, but says they need more study before drawing conclusions.

The evidence

The district's enforcement report gives counts by grade, gender and race for each school, a disparity analysis and a mitigation plan. The reports are dated July 13 and August 11, 2026.
