Schools will change grade levels in 2027-28

Day-to-day

What happened

The district plans to change which grades attend each school starting in fall 2027. Cicero-North Syracuse High School would serve grades 9 to 12 and the Junior High grades 7 and 8. Roxboro Road and Gillette Road would become intermediate schools for grades 4 to 6. The six elementary schools would serve PreK to grade 3.

Why it matters to families

Most students will change buildings or classmates in 2027. Families will see new bus routes, new schools and new groups of students. The district says the change goes ahead even if the December building vote fails.

The evidence

The Superintendent's June 1, 2026 board presentation lists the 2027-28 grade structure. The Oct. 13, 2026 presentation says the grade reconfiguration will proceed as planned regardless of the referendum vote. The plan follows the Utilization Study, which said enrollment fell 9.4% from 2019-20 to 2024-25.
