Elementary principal contract cancelled weeks after hiring; new principal named
What happened
The board appointed a new elementary principal on June 16, 2026, after the previous principal resigned in May. On Aug. 6, at a special meeting, it voted 5-0 to cancel that contract. On Aug. 18 it appointed Melissa Scaggs as elementary principal. The minutes do not give a reason for the cancellation.
