Board approves new paths for principals and school counselors
What happened
The board approved an interim principal license 11–5 and an interim school-counselor license 16–0. These paths require approved preparation, a district request and job evaluations.
Why it matters to families
Schools gain another way to hire prepared candidates who fall just short of the usual exam score. The record does not show improved hiring or student results yet.
The evidence
September’s proposal required at least 206 on the relevant exam, compared with the usual 220, and skilled or accomplished evaluations in two of three years. October captions record adoption. Effective dates were not established.
