Board approves 2026-27 Expanded Learning Opportunities Program
What happened
The Board approved the district's 2026-27 Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) plan, reversing prior years' decisions to decline ELO-P funding; the district will now implement a state-compliant program without General Fund contribution.
Why it matters to families
This is a new districtwide before/after-school program expansion affecting elementary families, funded through increased state funding rather than the General Fund; implementation details for OIS 6th grade and BASC offerings remain to be finalized.
The evidence
"In previous years, OUSD elected to decline ELO-P funding because implementation would have required a contribution from the District's General Fund. Due to increased state funding and program adjustments, the District is now able to implement an ELO-P program... Motion: That the Board approve that 26-27 ELOP Plan... Motion Carried 5-0"
