Funding structure, how it compares to peers, and where major projects stand.
How do local bonds and district decisions shape Orinda schools?
Orinda Union operates four elementary schools and Orinda Intermediate under a five-member Board of Trustees. Measure E and Measure I were separate 2018 general-obligation bonds: Measure E funds academic-excellence, STEAM, library, technology, and classroom work; Measure I funds safety and school-repair work, including HVAC, electrical, fire-safety, security, and communications systems.
Measure E is the academic-facilities bond
Voters authorized up to $50 million for classroom construction and repair, STEAM classrooms and labs, libraries, and technology infrastructure.
Measure I is the safety-and-repair bond
Voters separately authorized up to $55 million for HVAC, electrical, fire safety, security lighting, communications and cameras, locks, and related site and equipment work.
The bonds are overseen together, but remain distinct funds
The Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee’s 2025 audit materials list separate Measure E and Measure I balances and construction costs.
The Board still sets the program and policy direction
The Board approved the facilities master plan in May and has also acted on special-education services, homework policy, and teacher compensation.
A shared oversight report or a combined ‘Measures E and I’ label does not mean the two ballot measures have the same purpose or the same fund balance.
