What happened

The board adopted BP 5131.8. Current district guidance implements it for 2026–27: elementary devices are away all day; middle and high-school devices are away during instruction and passing periods, with lunch use allowed.

Why it matters to families

Families and students have new daily routines and communication options. Emergency, medical, IEP and authorized-learning exceptions remain.

The evidence

Item 16 C records adoption. The January 27 presentation explains the grade differences; the July 5 notice and current procedures confirm implementation. Families may contact the school office or use district email; the guidance permits devices on buses.
