County flags recurring spending gaps as attendance falls

What happened
The county approved the 2026–27 budget but flagged unrestricted gaps of $3.3 million this year, $2.8 million next year and $3.2 million in 2028–29. The budget also forecasts three years of falling attendance.
Why it matters to families
Ongoing gaps can put pressure on future school services. County reviewers urged the district to close the gaps before adding ongoing costs.
The evidence
The August 28 county letter gives the three projected gaps and ADA declines of 2.6%,3.2% and 2.1%. It also projects enough current-year cash and compliance with the 3% reserve minimum; it does not announce an adopted cut list.
